Tokis, the Japanese Crested Ibises, fly into the sky of Sado Island!

At 10:30am on September 25th, the ceremony of returning toki to the nature was held and 10 tokis flew up into the sky.

Congratulations on Returning to Nature

His Highness the Prince Akishinonomiya and Her Highness the Princess Akishinonomiya let the first 2 tokis free, and 8 of other tokis were released by the hands of persons concerned.

One of the released toki landed on a rice field near the town about 1 hour later.

Some of tokis flew away into the sky, and others landed on human dwellings. It was a memorable day to finally see tokis in flight for the first time since the last one was caught 27 years ago.
