Jingo-fukurokuju (Keikuji Temple)

"The Keikuji Temple with the honorific name of Mount Jingo prefixed to its name was founded in 807. Like Kokubunji Temple it functioned as an assistant temple to the Great Ichinomiya Shrine. The temple has strong connections with Retired Emperor Juntoku's first princess Keiko no Miya. The place of worship of Shingon (True Word) Esoteric Buddhism which regards the Buddha Mahavairocana as the source of all things issues the 83rd amulet from Sado's version of the 88 temple pilgrimage on Shikoku. The Princess Keiko revered the three Buddhist treasures of the Buddha the sutras and the priests and was particularly devoted to Fukurokujyusonten one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune made by Kiyonori Ikenokurando. After a life spent praying for the advent of the three primary virtues of valor benevolence and wisdom she passed away in 1286 at the age of 62. The Princess left a poem : “If only there were a pine tree at the Karazaki cape I might remember the good old days in Kyoto here on Sado."" She is worshipped at the base of the old pine tree in Karazaki (cape). (The pine tree which is there today is a different one which was planted when the old pine died.)"
