Sado's Finest Flower Mountains. Mountains where the snow has melted are covered with a carpet of beautiful wild flowers and grasses.

Our guides will show you masses of flowers, among the finest in Japan in terms both of variety and quantity. These include hepatica, which has been the flower of Niigata Prefecture since 2007.

Model itinerary

"Donden Trekking"

Mountain flowers and grasses, such as katakuri (Erythronium japonicum) ,kikuzakiichige (Anemone pseudo-altaica) , oomisumisou (Hepatica nobilis var. japonica f. magna) and shiraneaoi (Glaucidium palmatum) , cover the mountains on which the snow has melted as far as the eye can see. Our guides will take you up the Aoneba mountain path to feel the breath of spring.

Donden course : 20,000 yen for one guide (group of 5-30 persons) ,40,000 yen for two guides.

Remarks
Tour reservations can also be made at Sado Tourist Association (0259-27-5000) . Additional courses as well as the above are also available at different seasons. In June, for example our guides will take you to see hemerocallis middendorffii, var. exaltata in bloom.
