Hotel Meoto

Hotel Meoto overlooks strangely shaped rocks and the clear blue ocean. the hotel welcomes international travelers.

The pair of rocks on the shore is named "Meoto" or "Husband and Wife" look like they are cuddling up against one another. You can always find crabs and fish on the beach right by the hotel. You'll never tire of the wonders of the ocean. All rooms come with bath and toilet, and the big communal bath is a hot spring.

Across from the hotel is a salt factory that makes salt the old fashion way by evaporating seawater. You can tour the factory. The photo shows one of the stages of making salt with seaweed extract.

The owner is an avid collector of antiques. Tansu chests displayed in the hotel are antique, made locally in Sado. They were made especially strong for carrying goods onto ships, to protect the goods inside even in case of shipwrecks.

The ocean is right under your window. The beach is close enough that you can leave your room in your bathing suit. With only small waves, Japan Sea is a perfect place to enjoy the ocean in the summer.
