Tobishima-Kanzou

Every year from the end of May to June, Tobishima-Kanzou (a rare type of daylily) bloom all over the place around Onogame. Within Japan, Tobishima-Kanzou can only be found in Yamagata Prefecture and on Sado Island. On Sado, people call the flower "yorame" (meaning "fish eggs") because it signals the start of the season when fish come to lay their eggs. This is the only place in Japan where this flower blooms on such a large scale, though they can also be seen on the slopes along the sea coast throughout the island.
