Akara Erhu and Song, LIVE in Sado 2025 (10.11th and 12th)

Autumn Festival in Sado at IST in Soto-Kaifu and Kirarium in Aikawa

We are thrilled to welcome back the collaborative unit Akara, featuring erhu player Jun Kotani and singer Erika Nakagawa. The erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument, is renowned for its deeply soothing sound. Jun Kotani began the journey with the erhu without any prior musical experience and has since become a beloved Japanese erhu performer. Paired with Erika Nakagawa, whose powerful and heartfelt voice fills any space, Akara creates a musical world that doesn't just reach your ears—it stays in your heart. Last year, their peaceful live performance, which even featured a guest sing-along to "Sado Okesa," was a highlight. We are excited to see what magical moment they will create for us this year!

Performer: Akara, a singing and erhu unit formed in 2004. Featuring one of Japan's few professional erhu players, the pair performs nationwide. Their unique "twin erhu and singing" style, combined with an overwhelming vocal presence and rich musical expression that transcends the erhu's role as a traditional instrument, has earned them many fans across generations. They have also collaborated with numerous artists, including a guest appearance at a folk song event at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.
