Ajigokoro Kagura offers three options for traditional Japanese multi-course dinners: Hana (flower) for 3,500 JPY, Irodori (color) for 4,000 JPY, and Miyabi (elegance) for 5,000 JPY. Sashimi, the tempura set and the seafood rice bowl, all prepared with seasonal ingredients, are also gaining popularity.

Located in one corner of Minato Park, Akadomari Tourist Centre is a government-run facility used for training sessions, and exhibitions. It is closely located to Sado Kisen's Ferry Terminal, where the high-speed passenger boat "Aibisu" departs and arrives, and the on-site restaurant is popular. Among the menu items, including set menus, rice bowls and ramen Chinese noodles, the highlight is the original and seasonal red snow crab all-you-can-eat (available from October-April). Come and enjoy fresh crabs, landed right at the port, to your heart's satisfaction.

Founded in 1958, Café de Cattleya is a coffee shop with stained glass lights, a single flower dressing the tables, and quiet background music evoking the retro feel of the Showa times (1926-1989). It offers a choice of about thirty coffees, all of which are made with scrupulously selected coffee beans, including special blends, local brands, and Irish coffee. Cakes such as apple pies are also popular to eat along with the coffee. It also provides an ample selection of tea and juice.

CAFE Yotsuba opened on the Ebisu's shopping street where old-established stores stand. It is enjoying increasing popularity with absolutely delicious food. At lunchtime, the kitchen serves three options of lunch, one plate lunch, pasta and curry with rice. In the evening it transforms into a bistro serving à la carte dishes incuding appetizers, pasta, and main courses, along with wine, cocktails and whiskies. Carefully handcrafted desserts taste great, too.

Chargrill Restaurant Toki is nestled in a quiet environment, near Mano's Shopping Street on the side road towards the mountainside. The interior is designed with a stylish counter made of a single hiba arborvitae plate. You can enjoy chargrilled seasonal fish and steak. Expect a wide variety of dishes, including Sado's local dishes, original eclectic dishes, set meals, rice bowls, and noodles. A good selection of local sake that accompanies the dishes is also available.

The Enman restaurant specialises in chargrilled skewers, expressing their passion and determination towards handmade dishes. Using the brand-name chicken "Koshi no Tori" sourced from Niigata, the chef threads the chicken onto skewers one by one. Grilled at a high temperature over charcoal, the skewers are flavourful and taste excellent even when cold, making them a popular takeaway meal. Their Chinese ramen noodles are served with housemade chicken bone broth. Enman also serves à la carte dishes and chef's choice menus.

Kinkaro stands along Route 350, which you will know by its red signboard. The chef of the second generation learnt culinary skills at a famous Sichuan cuisine restaurant in Niigata, and wholeheartedly prepares dishes. The Sichuan-style Hot and Spicy Bean Curd, which carries on a traditional taste, gives rich flavours in spiciness, and this dish is highly recommended. Classic menus such as gyoza dumplings, fried rice, and sweet and sour pork are peerlessly delicious. Kinkaro also serves up noodles and set meals, and the set lunch on weekdays has a loyal following thanks to the reasonable price.

In Hamochi, "Osaki Soba no Kai" takes place several times a year, where you can enjoy local specialty dishes and hand-kneaded soba (buckwheat noodles), as well as traditional performing arts, attracting many fans throughout Japan. Chobokuri was opened in 2007 by the organising group of Osaki Soba no Kai. Here you can have a simple, but delightful treat of soba noodles made from 100% stone-ground buckwheat all year round. Seeking soba noodles soaked in flying fish based broth, soba lovers visit Chobokuri both from within and beyond Sado. The interior of a quaint Japanese-style house is also a highlight of Chobokuri. The restaurant's name derives from a traditional performing art in the Osaki area, which is performed at Osaki Soba no Kai.

Fantao is a Chinese restaurant housed within the Sun Mall Town shopping centre. The chef/owner, who learned cooking skills in Tokyo, cooks wholeheartedly for his guests. A choice of more than 15 variations of Chinese ramen noodles enjoy popularities among locals. They also offer limited edition of original noodles of the season. As the restaurant is located at a shopping center with is a spacious car park, the restaurant is readily accessible.

Coffee & Tea 2-2 is located at a corner of Honda Cars Sado Sawata Brach showroom. Please order and receive at the counter before being seated. Specialty coffee brewed in traditional methods, and smoothies are popular menu items. Popular sourdough pancakes and bread produced by SHIMAFUMI, an affiliated bakery, are also on offer. Benkei is a fish shop-run conveyor belt sushi restaurant with high popularity for its unbeatably fresh toppings. Seafood caught off the coast of Sado Island caught fresh every morning is prepared on the day. Many fans within Sado and outside of Sado say this is the place to come for sushi. The taste of sushi topped with carefully selected seasonal fresh fish has earned a reputation. The foodies' favourite seasonal toppings such as "blackthroat seaperch " and "kanburi (winter yellowtail)" are unique to Benkei. The added bonus is that the price is reasonable. Benkei is always packed with men and women of all ages.

Taro is an exciting restaurant offering creative dishes. A hospitable master chef will welcome you and skillfully serves his delicious dishes. "Tofu (bean curd) Pizza" is especially popular for ladies. Cuccina is located along Nakatsugawa Riva, close to the Kanaieki crossing. The menu offers a plethora of dishes including authentic pizza, pasta, paella, carpaccio, and so on. Every dish is prepared from plenty of local ingredients from Sado, guaranteed to draw out a "Buono!" from its customers. Offering lunch menus, reasonable set meals, party menus and a variety of original cuisine, Cuccina is loved by guests of all ages.

Daimaru Ramen serves healthy ramen noodles prepared by an all-female staff. These noodles are gaining popularity with people of all ages. Aiming for locavore palates, all ingredients are organic and cooked without additives. One of the best menu items is "Shiromiso Ramen", which is prepared with a soup base made from Sado-produced white bean paste, and it has a rich, yet refreshing, delicate flavour. The chashu (pork) baked every day has a tender, melt-in-the-mouth texture. Gyoza dumpings to-go are also popular.

The restaurant "de Vinco" is directly run by Henjinmokko, which is known for its famous sausages. It offers European-style dishes centered around Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. Don't miss out on the pizza baked at a high temperature in a pizza oven, which is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and pasta dishes served with scrupulously prepared sauce! The products of Henjinmokko are also served deliciously. The casual ambience with an open kitchen is also the reason for its popularity.

The first floor of Uoharu is a fishmonger shop, where local fish, caught fresh and purchased at early-morning markets, is sold. The second floor is a restaurant with tatami-mat rooms. Uoharu serves classic dishes, but you can choose your seafood at the shop downstairs and then have it cooked according to your preferred taste. "Rice Bowl with Stewed Abalone" and "Abalone Steak", both of which have captured the media's attention, come highly recommended and add an unforgettable dining experience to your travels.

Ekibasha specialises in steak and burger steak. The American country-style interior enhances your dining experience. The steak they serve is seasoned with salt and pepper only so that the distinct flavour of meat is maximised. The burger steak is made from 100% beef. Family Restaurant Taigaa stands on the Minamisen bus route. The kitchen delivers a great variety of delights from burger steaks and a bowl of rice with breaded deep-fried pork cutlet to fried rice and Chinese ramen noodles. A popular man-pleasing menu item is "stamina-don", which is a bowl of rice with stir-fried garlic, Chinese chives and pork on top. Omuraisu (an omelette stuffed with fried rice) with its fluffy, soft eggs comes recommended for women and children. The restaurant is equipped with a stage and a drum set, so that you can enjoy live entertainment, too.

La Plage is a restaurant located in the East Wing of Ryokan Urashima. It serves authentic French cuisine prepared from meticulously selected local ingredients, such as fresh seafood and Sado's Berkshire black pork. Over "Koshino Matsubara" (a seashore with beautiful green pine trees), the vast expanse of Mano Bay spreads out in front of you. La Plage, as a leading restaurant in Sado, takes pride in its fascinating, beautifully presented dishes finished with rich, flavourful sauce and excellent, warm service.

Saito's Fruit Café serves juices and shaved ice prepared with strawberries, peaches, nectarines, apples, Okesa persimmons and grapes, all fresh from Saito Farm. You can enjoy strawberry picking in spring, too.

Garage cafe RENNSPORT was opened to display cars by the car-mania owner. The cafe exhibits changing displays of cars varying from classic Porsche vehicles to Lotus cars, which indeed make a garage! The cafe menu has weekly spaghetti and sweet delights, which speak of the cook's joy. Organic fruit juice and chai tea also have a crowd-pleasing reputation.

Gashima Cinema is located on historical Kyomachi Street, which connects Sado Gold and Silver Mine with the Sado Commissioner's Office. This former residence of the Sado Gold Mine captain, built about 80 years ago, has been converted into a café while maintaining the ambiance of the olden days. A monthly featured film is shown daily, and a monthly book corner provides movie-related books. An old carbon arc film projector, which was once used at an actual movie theatre, is on display. This spot is perfect for a break on a stroll through history, in the old mining town of Aikawa.

Gin Zushi is an authentic sushi bar located on the Haneda shopping street. Beyond the noren [entrance curtains] awaits a counter made of a single plate. Seasonal fresh seafood is displayed in a sushi topping showcase. Among the menu items, "Sado Sushi" comes highly recommended. This is a good-value meal of sushi, with the day's choice toppings gleaned from the day's catch in the surrounding sea. They also offer a wide selection of à la carte dishes unique to Sado, such as squid dried for one night and mozuku seaweed.

Goshima is a Japanese-style fine cuisine restaurant serving local, delicious fish prepared by the master chef, who learned culinary skills in Tokyo. The customers', especially women's, favourite "barachirashi (sushi rice mixed with various ingredients),”whets your appetite, and delights your eyes and palate. The Chef's Choice Set Meal consists of plenty of fresh fish purchased on the day, and never fails to meet your expectations.

The interiors are dimly lit with pin spots shining downwards on the counter, and indirect lighting on the wall giving a warm glow. You can enjoy chicken skewers grilled over charcoal by the master in a pub atmosphere. Lovingly prepared skewers will leave you with a memorable taste of Kinpuku. Daily skewers with "unconventional" items along with classic poultry pieces such as boneless chicken, gizzard, tsukune (minced chicken balls) are all delicious. The skewers go well with cold sake of Sado and carefully selected wine. The flavourful stew is a popular side dish for the end of the meal.

Nagahamaso is a guest house located on the way to Ogi along the sea from Mano. It is in a great location with Mano Bay as its backdrop. Its changing menu reflects the day's catch and enjoys a good reputation. Ask about the economy-package for business use. The attached restaurant features a large fish tank that keeps abalones, turban shellfish, flatfish, and so on, alive! Lunch and dinner are served for both guests and non-guests.

Guesthouse Senkakuwan stands directly next to Senkakuwan Ageshima Yuen. The inn is perfectly located for exploring Aikawa and Sotokaifu in the neighbourhood of Marine Park in Senkakuwan Bay and Tassha Bathing Beach. Guesthouse Senkakuwan treats guests to fresh, locally caught seafood including deluxe sashimi served on a ship-shaped platter for dinner. The guesthouse is a friendly place where tourists and locals can casually pop-in and enjoy menu items such as set meals and donburi (rice with toppings) prepared with special seafood.

Okesa is a restaurant specializing in Sanuki udon noodles hand-kneaded by the owner/chef, a native of Kagawa Prefecture, which is the birthplace of Sanuki udon noodles. Sanuki udon noodles feature a distinctively firm, chewy texture. The noodles are made from 100% Japan-grown wheat flour, and served in a special broth, which is made from grilled mackerel and bonito flakes, simmered for one hour every morning. Okesa offers set menus with udon noodles and rice dishes, and the menu changes according to the seasons. Okesa also provide three labels of Sado-produced Japanese sake. The menu has a range of tidbits, too, and the hand-kneaded pizza is gaining huge popularity.

The top recommendation at Higuchi Shokudo is their hand-crafted sushi with fresh seasonal toppings. The kitchen also delivers a variety of menus from à la carte and set menus to Chinese ramen noodles and donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings). Their selection of alcoholic beverage includes wine and cocktails, local Japanese sake, shochu (Japanese distilled spirits) and beer.
