Imari
At Imari, you can feast on local, specialty cuisine made from the ingredients of Sado's mountains and surrounding sea. Imari is an ever-popular restaurant, well-known in Ryotsu, offering a variety of menu items, like its acclaimed lunch-of-the-day, as well as classic dishes usually found at izakayas (Japanese-style pubs). You will be greeted by a hospitable okami hostess, and, in a setting embellished with Imari ware, farming tools and household goods, you feel like you have wandered into an unusual space. Rice balls and bento box lunches, prepared at Imari, are available to buy aboard Sado Kisen ferries.

Kato Restaurant
Kato Restaurant is a long-established restaurant with a history of over sixty years. Situated at the heart of the Kanai area, Kato Restaurant offers a selection of menu options, from Chinese ramen noodles, curry with rice, donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings) to set meals and yoshoku (Japanese version of Western cuisine). The restaurant has been loved by locals with their established reputation . The best dishes include Tekiraisu, which is stir-fried pork finished with Worcestershire sauce and ketchup, and homemade Nukasanma (rice-bran marinated Pacific saury) with a flavourful pungency. They go very well with the Sado-grown Koshihikari rice.

Izakaya (Japanese-style pub) Nogata
Izakaya Nogata has an attractive appearance with striking black plate walls. Nogata attracts regulars seeking out the skewers of Sado Beef, local seafood, and more, grilled by the friendly master. A small, table-top grill is provided so you can enjoy yakiniku (Japanese-style barbecue), too. Depending on the day, Nogata serves dishes such as seasonal sashimi and grilled fish. Sushi Uohide
Sushi Uohide is located in front of Sado Kisen's Ryotsu Ferry Terminal. The owner/chef wholeheartedly crafts sushi with Sado-grown Koshihikari rice and toppings purchased from auctions at the Ryotsu Market. The chief draw is "Sado's Local Fish Nigiri Sushi Set," hand-crafted with seven toppings from the day's best catch. The signature item at Sushi Uohide is a creative one: "Sushi with Squid Innards." Squid innards are used instead of wasabi. This dish has an exquisite balance of flavours and is truly a masterpiece of hand-crafted sushi.

Oshokujidokoro Yuzuru (within Sado Rekishi Densetsukan [Sado History and Legend Museum])
Yuzuru is a restaurant located in the Sado Rekishi Densetsukan. The restaurant is built so it looks like it floats on a pond, where you can enjoy an elegant dining experience whilst viewing swimming carps and the Japanese garden. They are proud of dishes made from fresh seafood, especially their kaisendon, a bowl of rice with sumptuous toppings of seasonal seafood, is filling and recommended. Itamae no Mise Takeya
Takeya is a restaurant with a long history, located in the Tenryo-dori shopping street in Aikawa. Akadomari Tourist Centre
Located in one corner of Minato Park, Akadomari Tourist Centre is a government-run facility used for training sessions, and exhibitions. It is closely located to Sado Kisen's Ferry Terminal, where the high-speed passenger boat "Aibisu" departs and arrives, and the on-site restaurant is popular. Among the menu items, including set menus, rice bowls and ramen Chinese noodles, the highlight is the original and seasonal red snow crab all-you-can-eat (available from October-April). Come and enjoy fresh crabs, landed right at the port, to your heart's satisfaction.

Grilled Skewers Kinpuku
The interiors are dimly lit with pin spots shining downwards on the counter, and indirect lighting on the wall giving a warm glow. You can enjoy chicken skewers grilled over charcoal by the master in a pub atmosphere. Lovingly prepared skewers will leave you with a memorable taste of Kinpuku. Daily skewers with "unconventional" items along with classic poultry pieces such as boneless chicken, gizzard, tsukune (minced chicken balls) are all delicious. Kinzanjaya is an eatery located in the third car park of the historic site "Sado Gold Mine". You can enjoy lunch made from fresh seafood. In addition, "Kinzan Curry" served in a shape of Doyu no Wareto (split mountain top of the gold mine), and "Special Kaisendon", are popular menu items among others.

Café de Cattleya
Founded in 1958, Café de Cattleya is a coffee shop with stained glass lights, a single flower dressing the tables, and quiet background music evoking the retro feel of the Showa times (1926-1989). It offers a choice of about thirty coffees, all of which are made with scrupulously selected coffee beans, including special blends, local brands, and Irish coffee. Izakaya Hotaru
