- How to enjoy Sado Island
- Let's go around Sado Gold and Silver Mines!
There are 55 mines on Sado Island that produce gold, silver, and other metals. The major mines on the island, including the Nishimikawa Gold Mine, the Tsuruko Silver Mine, and the Aikawa Gold and Silver Mine, are collectively known as the "Sado Gold and Silver Mines." The Sado Gold and Silver Mines produced 78 tons of gold and 2,330 tons of silver during the 400 years since the Edo Period. As the largest gold and silver mine in Japan, it had a great impact on the domestic and international economy.
