Sea bathing

Sea bathing

There are many beaches on the island where visitors can enjoy swimming and playing in the sea. Futatsugame Beach, located at the northern tip of Sado, is listed as a two-star beach in the "Michelin Green Guide Japon" for the beauty of its scenery and the clarity of its seawater. It has also been selected as one of the "100 Best Beaches in Japan." You can also relax at Sobama Beach, located on the Ogi Peninsula at the southern part of the island. It is a long beach where a shallow shore and sandy coastline strech for four kilometers. The surrounding cactus colony gives the beach a tropical feel. Sawata Beach, close to downtown Sawata, is conveniently located and the perfect place to watch the sunset over Mano Bay.

Diving

Sado's crystal clear waters, rich fish life, and unique underwater topography attract many divers every year. There are many diving spots throughout the island, including the standard areas such as Kita-Koura, where you can swim with the famous kobudai (bulgyhead wrasses), and Kotoura, where the topography is fascinating. Even if you do not have a diving license, you can enjoy the marine world through snorkeling and an introductory diving course.

Kayaking & SUP

Kayaking & SUP

Sea kayaking is very popular these days. Kayaks will give you access to places which cannot be reached by boat, such as Ogi's caves; including Blue Cave Ryuodo, and Sotokaifu's cove. You can see shoals of fish swimming underneath your kayak, or hidden landscapes that can only be seen from the sea. Why not take a leisurely stroll on the water, letting the rhythm of the waves guide your body?
