Osawato-ishina natural cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. D.)

This is the entrance to a virgin forest, including a distinctive natural cedar named by the public.
This is an easy and enjoyable course with few ups and downs.

The "family cedar" is a cuddly figure.
The "Shitenno cedar" has four separate trunks.
The "Hagoromo Cedar" has branches that look as if they are dancing.
Natural Japanese cedar showing the bark of the tree that has been damaged by fog and wind.
There is also an observatory on the way, from which you can view Awashima Island and Ono Turtle on a clear day.

Natural cedars of Ishina on a circular tour course

The Ishina Natural Cedar Circuit Trail is an easy way to enjoy the natural cedars at an elevation of around 900 meters. Along the 650-meter-long trail, named by the public, giant trees such as "Ivory Cedar" and "Hagoromo Cedar" are stretching their branches. The strong winds and fog have caused the oddly shaped cedars, which are not suitable for timber, to remain uncut. Some of the trees are over 300 years old.

Note: Approximately 70 minutes by car from Aikawa. Construction work is scheduled on the Ishina-Waki road (Aikawa/Ishina community side) leading to the Osado Ishina natural cedars, and access from the Ishina community side will not be allowed on construction days (mainly weekdays). However, due to the narrow width of the road, vehicles larger than a microbus will not be allowed. Please see below for information on road closures.
