A pond of worship deep in the mountains of the Akadama area
Sugiike Pond is located near a pass that connects Ryotsu and Akadama (440m above sea level), and consists of two ponds, Sugiike and Hyotan-ike. The solemn pond, lined with giant cedar trees, is the only pond formed by spring water in the Kosado Mountains, and has been worshipped as a pond that never dries up. The lush greenery is stunning around the time of Sugiike Festival. Don't miss out on the skunk cabbages in full bloom in spring.
