Minshuku (Japanese-style Bed and Breakfast)
Minshuku Taniguchiso
Minshuku Taniguchiso is situated on the Sotokaifu Coast, near Hanezaka, the most challenging part of the road that runs around Sado Island. Nicknamed "Z-zaka (slope)," this area is familiar with cycling enthusiasts and a part of the Sado's Ironman/woman Triathlon course. This B&B provides meals packed full of delicious ingredients such as fresh seafood delivered by local fishermen, blessings of clear streams, and seasonal riches of the soil. The inn is located at Iwayaguchi, which is the first and last bus stop of the Kaifu Line bus service. As Minshuku Taniguchiso also sells drinks, please do not hesitate to drop in for a beverage.

Gift Shops Sake Breweries
Sado Hakko Inc.
Mountains over 900m and pristine cedar forests spread out along the Sotokaifu Coast, where our shop is located. Amazake (sweet, fermented rice drink) and cloudy sake are made entirely with Sado-produced koshihikari rice grown with abundant water directly from the mountains. Rice is fermented by combining it with the lactic acid naturally contained in the air, and using the yamahai sake brewing method (utilizing natural yeast without a steamed rice-mashing component). Rice on Sado Island tastes better when the water source and rice paddies are in close proximity. We sell Seki Cape wakame seaweed, too. Seki Cape wakame grows slowly at a relatively low temperature while absorbing a lot of minerals., and is harvested almost one month later than the usual kind.

The manager, an ecotourism guide, will navigate you through the Seki Forest famous for the Kongo ancient cedar, and Niigata University's Forest (guided tours require a fee). Seasonal wild plants are enchanting, too. Kawaguchiso welcomes many repeat-visitors coming to enjoy both river and sea fishing, and provides special offers for anglers.
