Nakajimaya Ryokan

The Masaragawa area is known for the Kaifu Ohashi bridge over the Ozare River strath. The unparalleled view over the sea of Sotokaifu is stunning. Inside Guesthouse Hayashiso, prints of large fish including yellowtail amberjack, red seabream, black porgy, etc. are displayed, and the inn is famous among fishers coming from the outside of Sado. The owner, who is a fisherman, will take you off-shore by a fishing boat (for a charge) , where he will grill your catch or serve it as sashimi.

Sankyo no Ike is located closed to Komyobutsuji Temple, where a buddhist monk Tanzei Shonin stayed for six years, located at upper stream from the Masaragawa area, 340m up in the mountain. The circumference of the lake surrounded by a thick bunch of trees is 500m. You can walk around the lake along a promenade. A legendary tragic love story of the male dragon, the master of the lake, and a beautiful girl named Osen has been retold from generation to generation. The stream of Ozare River, fed by water of this Sankyo no Ike, becomes Waterfall of Ozare, to flow into the sea around the Masaragawa area in Sotokaifu.

Minshuku Taniguchiso is situated on the Sotokaifu Coast, near Hanezaka, the most challenging part of the road that runs around Sado Island. Nicknamed "Z-zaka (slope)," this area is familiar with cycling enthusiasts and a part of the Sado's Ironman/woman Triathlon course. This B&B provides meals packed full of delicious ingredients such as fresh seafood delivered by local fishermen, blessings of clear streams, and seasonal riches of the soil. The inn is located at Iwayaguchi, which is the first and last bus stop of the Kaifu Line bus service. As Minshuku Taniguchiso also sells drinks, please do not hesitate to drop in for a beverage.

Sado Sotokaifu Youth Hostel is situated in front of Iwayaguchi Bus Stop. Magnificent mountains extending along a stream appear in the background, surrounding the area in natural beauty. The beauty of the starry night sky is brilliant. You will be welcomed by Okami, an expert on life in Iwayaguchi, with warm hospitality; including, among other things, dishes made with local ingredients and a bath with home-made herbs. Please, refresh your spirit with pleasant conversation around a sunken hearth, while viewing the sea at dusk.

Onogame Lodge is conveniently close to the Onogame monolith. The menu options include classic dishes including set menus prepared from local ingredients, curry with rice, and noodles. Highlights include Kaisendon (bowl of rice with seafood toppings). Kaisendon is packed full of seafood, which the owner of the restaurant catches himself. Choose your seat first, and place your order at the counter. There is also outdoor seating on a deck to the front. Enjoy your lunch in this exceptional location, whilst marvelling at Onogame.

The vast expanse of the sea spreads out before your eyes while behind you stands a backdrop of mountains encasing ancient cedars. Here you can enjoy fishing, sea-bathing and trekking as much as you like. A French cuisine chef, the master offers both French food and makes superb use of locally-sourced ingredients to provide a traditional taste of Sado. The sights and sounds of nature are an absolute delight: breezes blowing through the garden, fireflies flying around, crashing waves, and chirping birds.

All rooms have a sea view, overlooking Futatsugame, massive offshore outcrops named for what they resemble: two turtles. The view from the lounge and large bathing rooms are also breathtaking. SADO Futatsugame View Hotel is a perfect place to enjoy a variety of activities including diving and fishing. Meals prepared with Sado's ingredients such as seafood landed at Washizaki Fishing Port has established reputation. You can enjoy fresh seafood dishes also at the restaurant "Sunset", which is open for lunch.

Ryoso Minato takes pride in its sea front location, and meals packed full of seafood caught with bag-shaped nets and caught at Takachi Fishing Port. You can enjoy a specialty dish "Ika Somen (literally "squid noodles": fine strips of fresh squid) served with home-made sauce at the restaurant on site. Nyuzaki Beach is located at a 5-minute walk from the inn, where you can enjoy camping and barbecue. The inn is also located close to the Ishige trekking route, and the entry point to the Sado natural cedar trees route. You can simultaneously enjoy the mountains and the sea to your satisfaction.
