A perfect base for exploring the Sotokaifu area, this is a family-owned "People's Lodge" offering warm hospitality
The vast expanse of the sea spreads out before your eyes while behind you stands a backdrop of mountains encasing ancient cedars. Here you can enjoy fishing, sea-bathing and trekking as much as you like. Guest House Kawaguchiso
Surrounded by nature, Kawaguchiso is the accommodation closest to the entrance of the pristine forest trail route. The manager, an ecotourism guide, will navigate you through the Seki Forest famous for the Kongo ancient cedar, and Niigata University's Forest (guided tours require a fee). Seasonal wild plants are enchanting, too. Kawaguchiso welcomes many repeat-visitors coming to enjoy both river and sea fishing, and provides special offers for anglers.

Sado Hakko Inc.
Mountains over 900m and pristine cedar forests spread out along the Sotokaifu Coast, where our shop is located. Amazake (sweet, fermented rice drink) and cloudy sake are made entirely with Sado-produced koshihikari rice grown with abundant water directly from the mountains. Rice is fermented by combining it with the lactic acid naturally contained in the air, and using the yamahai sake brewing method (utilizing natural yeast without a steamed rice-mashing component). Rice on Sado Island tastes better when the water source and rice paddies are in close proximity. We sell Seki Cape wakame seaweed, too. Seki Cape wakame grows slowly at a relatively low temperature while absorbing a lot of minerals., and is harvested almost one month later than the usual kind.
Sado Seki Cape Caravan Site
Perched on elevated ground 100 meters from the coastline, Kyukamura Sado Caravan Site is located on Seki Cape, with the azure Sea of Japan in front and the Osado Mountain Range in back. The Seki community, down the road from the campsite, is one of the entrances for the trekking route through the pristine forest known for its ancient cedars. This campsite guarantees a stunning view of the great landscape of Sotokaifu: the sun setting over the Sea of Japan, the fires lit on the boats to lure fish at night, and the starry night skies.
Sado Sotokaifu Youth Hostel
Sado Sotokaifu Youth Hostel is situated in front of Iwayaguchi Bus Stop. Magnificent mountains extending along a stream appear in the background, surrounding the area in natural beauty. The beauty of the starry night sky is brilliant. You will be welcomed by Okami, an expert on life in Iwayaguchi, with warm hospitality; including, among other things, dishes made with local ingredients and a bath with home-made herbs. Please, refresh your spirit with pleasant conversation around a sunken hearth, while viewing the sea at dusk.
