You can find locally-produced vegetables every day in one of the island's largest farm shops, Shinsen Kukan Yorankaya, located at the heart of Sado. Yorankaya boasts the widest range of processed products made from Sado-sourced produce, including vegetables, fruits, fish and seaweed, perfect for both daily shopping and souvenir hunting. There is a small dining space, too. Please drop in.

Meiji Kinendo was founded by Ryokan Honjo, a Buddhist monk of Tokushoji Temple, to comfort the souls of Sado Islanders who died for their country in the First Sino-Japanese War, and is funded by donations. Later, the souls of the dead in the Russo-Japanese War, Japanese Siberian Intervention, and Manchuria Incident were enshrined here, too. A board inscribed by calligrapher Banko Yoshida with the words of Meiji Kinendo, is hung in front, and the hand-written notes of Field Marshal Iwao Oyama, Katsu Kaishu (a naval officer and mediator in the Meiji Restoration in 1898), and Marshal Admiral Togo are hung inside. A graveyard for Russian navy crews also exists within the grounds.

Farmhouse Inn Ueta is an accommodation for one group per day/night located near Sado City Hall. You can enjoy the slow pace of rural life in Sado by getting in touch with nature of the sea and mountains, and experiencing farming or juice making (seasonal). You can feast on Sado's home cooked meals including Sado's stew and chicken soup. The inn has a washing machine, a refrigerator and fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, and is suitable for long-term staying. The taste of the "unrefined, cloudy sake", which the master makes himself, is also exceptional.

Izakaya Nogata has an attractive appearance with striking black plate walls. Nogata attracts regulars seeking out the skewers of Sado Beef, local seafood, and more, grilled by the friendly master. A small, table-top grill is provided so you can enjoy yakiniku (Japanese-style barbecue), too. Depending on the day, Nogata serves dishes such as seasonal sashimi and grilled fish. Izakaya Nogata is a cosy izakaya where you can enjoy pleasant drinks.

Kato Restaurant is a long-established restaurant with a history of over sixty years. Situated at the heart of the Kanai area, Kato Restaurant offers a selection of menu options, from Chinese ramen noodles, curry with rice, donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings) to set meals and yoshoku (Japanese version of Western cuisine). The restaurant has been loved by locals with their established reputation . The best dishes include Tekiraisu, which is stir-fried pork finished with Worcestershire sauce and ketchup, and homemade Nukasanma (rice-bran marinated Pacific saury) with a flavourful pungency. They go very well with the Sado-grown Koshihikari rice.

The master chef demonstrates his culinary skills to serve dishes focusing on his carefully selected seafood. Ishiyama's motto is: serve dishes that maximises the freshness of seasonal ingredients. Dishes which make you experience the wonders of the season have established a great reputation. Recommended "Set Meal of the Day" served with the freshest sashimi will satisfy your palate. Ishiyama will meet your needs whether you are having a casual lunch, gathering with your friends, or having a party. The courtyard also has a very relaxing atmosphere.

Hikino takes pride in Sado-sourced fresh seafood. They offer a wide range of dishes including sashimi, grilled fish, hand-shaped sushi, thick sushi rolls, and hand-pressed boxed sushi. Also offered are sushi sets of your choice with Chinese ramen noodles. Japanese-style barbecue cooked over an infrared grill is recommended. As the grill can remove excess fat while cooking, you can enjoy the enhanced flavour of meat. In addition, because the grill is smoke-free, the smell of smoke will not stick to your clothes, so Hikino has been a popular venue for women as well.
