Hotel Oosado

Hotel Yahatakan
An elegant, seven-story building comes into sight through a pine forest. Yahatakan is a renowned hotel that has welcomed numerous prominent figures and celebrities, such as government officials and members of the Imperial Household, including Emperor Showa. It is located in the central part of Sado and provides an ideal base, for both sightseeing and business. Yahatakan has something for everyone: spacious guest rooms, meals centering around fresh seafood, and flowing, soft-textured Yahata Onsen hot spring waters direct from the source, among others.

Hananoki Inn
Hananoki Inn is housed in a 150-year old Japanese house transferred and reassembled on about 3,300㎡ of land. Hananoki stands calmly in the borrowed scenery of mountains, where Buddha statues carved into rock, and the huge Kofuku Jizo statue act as backdrops. Repeat customers return for the wholeheartedly prepared dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The inn has, on the premises, a pottery factory of the inn's master, Tosei Watanabe. The inn also hosts concerts with unique programming.

Sado Kamoko Onsen Kohan no Yado Yoshidaya
Initially started as a restaurant in the Ansei Era of the Edo Period (1854-60), Yoshidaya is now a long-established Japanese-style inn with a hot spa drawing from the thermal waters of Sado Kamoko Onsen's hot springs. Seasonally scenic views over Lake Kamo and the Osado Mountains, as well as the view at dusk from an open-air bath fed with natural thermal waters continuously flowing from the source, are sights to behold. Multi-course dinners of Japanese cuisine feature Sado's seafood, and our uncompromising attitude toward nourishment, passed down from the time of its foundation, adds color to your table.

Sado Resort Hotel Azuma
Azuma Yubae-tei Kaiyo-tei was established as "Azuma", a Japanese cuisine restaurant, in Haneda, Aikawa, in 1925. Located at the western-most point in the northern Sado mountains, Azuma Yubae-tei Kaiyo-tei has been valued as the place "closest to the setting sun". Guest rooms and a large bathroom overlooking Nanaura Coast have a spectacular view of the setting sun. A large, 23,500㎡ lawn garden features a stone tablet carved with a haiku poem written by the famous poet, Seishi Yamaguchi, during his stay here, and an old burial ground. A stroll along the promenade leads to the seashore. Popular for its private outdoor bath and rooms with individual outdoor baths, Azuma Yubae-tei Kaiyo-tei is a long-established hotel with specialty dishes, standing on the heights of a quasi-national park.

A hotel with long-standing traditions and a distinctive character: Hotel Mancho
Claiming the wealthiest farmer in Sado as an ancestor, Hotel Mancho was established in 1950. It stands at the seashore in Aikawa, facing the setting sun and the fires lit on boats to lure fish at night. Dishes are prepared from rustic seafood and the riches of the soil by chefs with delicate techniques. The in-house art gallery displays many exhibits, including Buddha statues that have been collected over generations, and the writings of three people with "shu" in their name (Katsu Kaishu, Tesshu Yamaoka and Deishu Takahashi), who are famous for their superb handwriting and lived at the end of the Edo Period (19th century). Hotel Mancho is situated close to Sado Kinzan Gold Mine and Kasugazaki, and offers opportunities for a variety of activities.

Sado Onsen Hot Spring: Ogi-no-Yu
A five-minute car ride from Ogi Port, Ogi-no-Yu is located on a hill with easy access to the town center. From the window facing the Sea of Japan, you can see the sun rise over the sea, right in front of your eyes. This inn, with its own hot spring spa, provides an opportunity to see the two ports of Ogi at the same time, a view that is only available here. One port is Uchinoma (the inside inlet), which flourished as a sengokubune (wooden freight ship) port of call when gold was being shipped in the Edo Period (1603-1867), and the other is Ogi Port, also called Sotonoma (the outside inlet). The hot spring has a pH of 9.54 (without dilution), with a high alkaline content. The texture enchants many people with its reputed skin-beautifying effects. Other attractions on the premises are a restaurant that serves fresh local produce, and lodgings with the warm atmosphere of wood.

Hotel Familio Sado Aikawa
A view over the Sea of Japan can be enjoyed from each room. All rooms are spacious, set in the European style with a bath and a separate toilet. The "Island Meal," made with locally produced food is served at the restaurant. Large bathrooms with hot spring water, as well as our barbecue facilities, are popular among our guests. Our original Japanese sake, "Sado Sen'nen no Sugi (1,000-year-old cedar)," also adds colour to your stay in Sado.

Sado Green Hotel Kiraku stands on the heights of Shiizaki, facing Lake Kamo. You can relax in a variety of hot spa baths varying from large bathing rooms with a panoramic view on the top floor (hotel guests only), Yurakunagaya (a private outdoor bath for hotel guests only), to outdoor baths "Toki no Maiyu" (one-day bathing available). Aikawa Onsen Ryokan Doyu
Ryokan Doyu is a Japanese-style inn estbalished in 1999 in Kasugazaki, a scenic spot in Aikawa. All guestrooms and large bathing rooms have a view of the grand Sea of Japan, the beautiful setting sun, and the scene of the fire lit on boats which is used to lure fish at night. This inn offers a perfect setting to enjoy activities on mountains or in the sea. With the motto: "an inn known for its special cuisine", Ryokan Doyu offers dishes made from ingredients varying from fresh seafood directly sourced from local fishermen to locally grown rice and seasonal vegetables.

Shiozu no Sato
Shiozu no Sato stands on open ground in the heights overlooking Mano Bay. It has a spacious front garden where you can enjoy camping or a barbecue, and is ideal for school trips, sports training camps, and other excursions. In addition, Shiozu no Sato offers opportunities for a variety of activities on the themes of food and marine leisure, including noroma puppet painting, and stonework, among others. Hotel New Katsura
Hotel New Katsura is superbly located on the lakeside, close to the sea. Standing on the heights of the Shiizaki Onsen hot spring village, with an abundance of hot spring water, Hotel New Katsura provides large bathrooms for men and women, as well as, two outdoor bathrooms and a private outdoor bath. Baths are also open for day-trip visitors. Hotel New Katsura treats you to meals only available in Sado, prepared using seafood sourced from the local Ryotsu market, Koshihikari rice harvested in the rice paddies in front of the hotel, and the vegetables grown with utmost care by the hotel staff members.

The inn of the setting sun and lake: Aokiya
Aokiya stands at the top of the hill overlooking Lake Kamo, and all guestrooms have a sea view. The sun setting behind Osado Mountains while turning the lake into a beautiful orange colour is exceptionally memorable. Dishes prepared mainly from seafood caught from the local sea surrounding Sado are delicious. Shiizaki Onsen's natural hot spa water, which was used for healing by the toki, the Japanese crested ibis, eases your fatigue. The Aokiya is a perfect place for a casual stroll and relaxation as it is close to Shiizaki Park and noh theatre stage.

Sawata Onsen hot spring Ryokan Iriumi
Ryokan Iriumi is located by the seashore in Kubota and is surrounded by the sound of waves of Mano Bay. The majority of the spacious guestrooms have a sea view. Run by a master fisherman, the inn owns a fixed fishing net, and the seafood they serve is exceptionally fresh. The meals which maximizes the unique flavours of Sado has established reputation, and their specialty menu is okoze (stonefish) dishes. White flesh with simple, light flavour is served deep-fried and as sashimi. The ginger-coloured hot spa water will warm you up from inside and ease your fatigue.

Hotel Shiiya
Founded in 1912, Hotel Shiiya is the longest-established hotel in Ryotsu, which is nestled at the side of Lake Kamo. The entrance has a large, red parasol, used for outdoor tea ceremony, that evokes a traditional Japanese atmosphere. Flower arrangements dotted around the hotel, among other small touches, offer a sense of hospitality. Generous hospitality is also present in the meal service, which showcases the tastes of Sado with fresh seafood and fruit, among others. Ryotsu Onsen (hot spring water) Bath, known for its skin-beautifying effect, is also popular.

Minami Ryokan
In front of Minami Ryokan lies the spacious Sumiyoshi Coast's sandy beach. The inn has a licence to participate in fish auctions, and seasonal fish is carefully selected at Ryotsu Market every morning. The inn serves dishes wholeheartedly prepared from seasonal, delicious mountain vegetables and Sado-grown rice. Niibo Katagami Onsen (hot spring)
With a history of 800 years, Niibo Katagami Onsen is rumored to have been frequented by Emperor Juntoku in the 13th century. Onsen bathing in this area is said to have originated when a samurai warrior tried using the water after he saw a white heron (or toki, as some people claim) treat its injuries at the onsen. Known as "the waters with healing properties," Niibo Katagami Onsen is frequented affectionately by many local people.

Sunrise Jogahama
Sunrise Jogahama is an inn located in Akadomari, in the refreshing environment of southeast Sado, that offers hands-on experiences. As the name suggests, you can see the sun rising above the horizon from guest rooms. In front of the inn lies Jogahama Bathing Beach and behind it are mountains abundant in nature, making Sunrise Jogahama ideal for school trips and training camps as well as ordinary stays and banquets. Workshops on offer include soba noodle-making, fishing from a rocky shore, and folktale retelling, providing a glance at the culture of Sado.

Jugetsukan Hotel
Jugetsukan hotel stands at the source of Sumiyoshi Onsen and Shiizaki Onsen hot springs, and offers hot spa bath with a continuous flow of hot spa water from the source. The inn faces the Ryotsu Bay with a view of the car ferries sailing. In front of the inn lies Sumiyoshi Coast known as a sea fishing spot. Meals provided are seafood dishes prepared from scrupulously selected fresh and flavourful ingredients unique to Sado. Kur means convalescence, treatment and recuperation, and therme refers to the thermal baths in German. As the name suggests, the Kurtherme Sado incorporates German systems as well.
