Chozaburo is a renowned restaurant serving Sado-style sushi, thronging with locals and tourists. It delights you with the freshest toppings directly sourced from Ryotsu Market and local fishermen. You can also savour name-brand toppings such as tuna from Oma and sea urchin from Aomori, available only at renowned sushi shops. Meotoiwa Drive-In is a roadside eatery right in front of the sight-seeing spot, Meotoiwa Rocks. The eatery offers dishes mainly on seafood such as rice bowls with seafood toppings and rice bowls with deep-fried breaded yellowtail. There is also a good selection of souvenirs unique to Sado on offer. Squid preparation is a popular experience with entertaining instructions by the "Dried Squid Master". After the experience, you can take some dried squid home, a popular item at the souvenir shop. If you wish to have the one you prepared by yourself, the prepared squid can be dried and shipped to you at a later date.

Located in one corner of Minato Park, Akadomari Tourist Centre is a government-run facility used for training sessions, and exhibitions. It is closely located to Sado Kisen's Ferry Terminal, where the high-speed passenger boat "Aibisu" departs and arrives, and the on-site restaurant is popular. Among the menu items, including set menus, rice bowls and ramen Chinese noodles, the highlight is the original and seasonal red snow crab all-you-can-eat (available from October-April). Come and enjoy fresh crabs, landed right at the port, to your heart's satisfaction.

Fantao is a Chinese restaurant housed within the Sun Mall Town shopping centre. The chef/owner, who learned cooking skills in Tokyo, cooks wholeheartedly for his guests. A choice of more than 15 variations of Chinese ramen noodles enjoy popularities among locals. They also offer limited edition of original noodles of the season. As the restaurant is located at a shopping center with is a spacious car park, the restaurant is readily accessible.

Izakaya Nogata has an attractive appearance with striking black plate walls. Nogata attracts regulars seeking out the skewers of Sado Beef, local seafood, and more, grilled by the friendly master. A small, table-top grill is provided so you can enjoy yakiniku (Japanese-style barbecue), too. Depending on the day, Nogata serves dishes such as seasonal sashimi and grilled fish. Izakaya Nogata is a cosy izakaya where you can enjoy pleasant drinks.

Kato Restaurant is a long-established restaurant with a history of over sixty years. Situated at the heart of the Kanai area, Kato Restaurant offers a selection of menu options, from Chinese ramen noodles, curry with rice, donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings) to set meals and yoshoku (Japanese version of Western cuisine). The restaurant has been loved by locals with their established reputation . The best dishes include Tekiraisu, which is stir-fried pork finished with Worcestershire sauce and ketchup, and homemade Nukasanma (rice-bran marinated Pacific saury) with a flavourful pungency. They go very well with the Sado-grown Koshihikari rice.

Hikino takes pride in Sado-sourced fresh seafood. They offer a wide range of dishes including sashimi, grilled fish, hand-shaped sushi, thick sushi rolls, and hand-pressed boxed sushi. Also offered are sushi sets of your choice with Chinese ramen noodles. Japanese-style barbecue cooked over an infrared grill is recommended. As the grill can remove excess fat while cooking, you can enjoy the enhanced flavour of meat. In addition, because the grill is smoke-free, the smell of smoke will not stick to your clothes, so Hikino has been a popular venue for women as well.

Daimaru Ramen serves healthy ramen noodles prepared by an all-female staff. These noodles are gaining popularity with people of all ages. Aiming for locavore palates, all ingredients are organic and cooked without additives. One of the best menu items is "Shiromiso Ramen", which is prepared with a soup base made from Sado-produced white bean paste, and it has a rich, yet refreshing, delicate flavour. The chashu (pork) baked every day has a tender, melt-in-the-mouth texture. Gyoza dumpings to-go are also popular.

The top recommendation at Higuchi Shokudo is their hand-crafted sushi with fresh seasonal toppings. The kitchen also delivers a variety of menus from à la carte and set menus to Chinese ramen noodles and donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings). Their selection of alcoholic beverage includes wine and cocktails, local Japanese sake, shochu (Japanese distilled spirits) and beer. Family Restaurant Taigaa stands on the Minamisen bus route. The kitchen delivers a great variety of delights from burger steaks and a bowl of rice with breaded deep-fried pork cutlet to fried rice and Chinese ramen noodles. A popular man-pleasing menu item is "stamina-don", which is a bowl of rice with stir-fried garlic, Chinese chives and pork on top. Omuraisu (an omelette stuffed with fried rice) with its fluffy, soft eggs comes recommended for women and children. The restaurant is equipped with a stage and a drum set, so that you can enjoy live entertainment, too.

Taro is an exciting restaurant offering creative dishes. A hospitable master chef will welcome you and skillfully serves his delicious dishes. "Tofu (bean curd) Pizza" is especially popular for ladies. The menu has an impressive selection of mouth-watering dishes such as beer-battered deep-fried chicken, German potato salad in downtown style, and Taro's mapo tofu (hot and spicy bean curd). It confidently provides an ample selection of shochu (Japanese distilled spirits).

Guesthouse Senkakuwan stands directly next to Senkakuwan Ageshima Yuen. The inn is perfectly located for exploring Aikawa and Sotokaifu in the neighbourhood of Marine Park in Senkakuwan Bay and Tassha Bathing Beach. Guesthouse Senkakuwan treats guests to fresh, locally caught seafood including deluxe sashimi served on a ship-shaped platter for dinner. The guesthouse is a friendly place where tourists and locals can casually pop-in and enjoy menu items such as set meals and donburi (rice with toppings) prepared with special seafood.

Nacchan has an established reputation for its fresh, seasonal seafood purchased at the market, and delicious nibbles. Bento box meals and catering services also enjoy popularity. The food menu consists of a plethora of dishes, including noodles, donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings), and set meals. Nacchan offers an all-chuhai-you-can-drink deal (chuhai are mixed drinks with shochu, Japanese distilled spirits) between 17:00-22:00 (valid for two hours). Prices are 1,000JPY for men and 500JPY for women. Head to the sister snack bar "Shante" after Nacchan. You can get 50% off karaoke there.

Hotaru is a Japanese-style pub with a home-like atmosphere. Nibbles such as deep-fried natto (fermented soy beans) and squid balls are well regarded for its deliciousness. Among them, the grilled pork skewers, which are freshly prepared once an order is made, is especially scrumptious. They are grilled with sweet miso (bean paste) sauce, which compliments the pork perfectly. Hotaru is also famous for its flavourful Chinese ramen noodles. The ever-popular "chilled Chinese ramen noodles" has a light taste and is also highly recommended.

"Ikebukuro Daishoken" established a great reputation in Tokyo for Tsukemen (ramen noodles served with a separate dipping soup). The master chef trained under Mr Kazoo Yamagishi, and was allowed to set up his own restaurant with the same name. He introduces the taste and philosophy of the master chef, Mr Yamagishi, to Sado. The well-balanced soup made from bones of pork and chicken, and seafood, and the homemade noodles taste authentic even for those who know the taste of the founder's restaurant. As Mr Yamagishi emphasized the importance of "pig bones, chicken bones, and the chef's personality," the set of noodles and dipping soup prepared by the chef's kindness and skill is delicious.

Kinzanjaya is an eatery located in the third car park of the historic site "Sado Gold Mine". You can enjoy lunch made from fresh seafood. Kinzan Soba (buckwheat noodles) topped with chewy mekabu seaweed, shrimp tempura and iwanori seaweed and gold dust is highly recommended. In addition, "Kinzan Curry" served in a shape of Doyu no Wareto (split mountain top of the gold mine), and "Special Kaisendon", are popular menu items among others.

Kinkaro stands along Route 350, which you will know by its red signboard. The chef of the second generation learnt culinary skills at a famous Sichuan cuisine restaurant in Niigata, and wholeheartedly prepares dishes. The Sichuan-style Hot and Spicy Bean Curd, which carries on a traditional taste, gives rich flavours in spiciness, and this dish is highly recommended. Classic menus such as gyoza dumplings, fried rice, and sweet and sour pork are peerlessly delicious. Kinkaro also serves up noodles and set meals, and the set lunch on weekdays has a loyal following thanks to the reasonable price.

Tengu, named after the legendary crow-like yokai with a long nose, has won praise for its fish dishes. The kitchen delivers daily specials centering around sashimi and grilled fish. The chef, who loves fishing, sometimes serves his haul of the day. Chargrilled Yakiniku and Yakitori are popular menu items, be it your main dish or a nibble to accompany your drinks. Tengu serves set meals and Chinese ramen noodles during lunchtime hours. This is a reliable place for a casual lunch, or visiting for food and drinks in the evening.

A long-established snack bar, Orphée reopened with added izakaya elements in 2007. While maintaining the intimate atmosphere perfect for karaoke and chatting, Orphée now offers an ample selection of dishes, too. The kitchen provides a variety of menu items, from grilled skewers, deep-fried dishes and steak to noodles and fried rice. As Orphée has both counter seats and a section floored with tatami mats, it is a perfect place to dine whether you are in a large group or a solo diner.

Zen offers creative cuisines by making full use of seasonal ingredients. At lunchtime, omuraisu (omelette stuffed with fried rice) and pasta dishes are served. At dinnertime, meat and fish dishes are the main menu. Great food prepared by the master chef, qualified as a food coordinator, is popular for its various flavours such as the Asian. Arinko is a local's favourite in the Niibo area. The pub has counter seats and a section floored with tatami mats which provide the characteristic cosy feel of a genuine izakaya pub. Dishes to complement sake (Japanese whisky) is prepared by the Okami female manager, who is fastidious about locally produced ingredients. They offer a wide range of hearty food, including grilled skewers and fish, handmade gyoza dumplings, rolled omelette, etc. Arinko can accommodate parties according to your budget.

The Enman restaurant specialises in chargrilled skewers, expressing their passion and determination towards handmade dishes. Using the brand-name chicken "Koshi no Tori" sourced from Niigata, the chef threads the chicken onto skewers one by one. Grilled at a high temperature over charcoal, the skewers are flavourful and taste excellent even when cold, making them a popular takeaway meal. Their Chinese ramen noodles are served with housemade chicken bone broth. Enman also serves à la carte dishes and chef's choice menus.
