Sado Gold Mine - Winter Closures 2025-2026

The Sado Gold Mine will be undergoing renovations starting in December, 2025 and through the start of the new year, 2026.

Please note the following closures:

1. Souvenir Shop: Closed from December 2, 2025 (Tuesday) until Spring, 2026 (date TBD)

2. Museum: Closed from December 2, 2025 (Tuesday) until date TBD

3. Mine Tunnel Closures

From January 16, 2026 (Friday) - March 31, 2026 (Tuesday): 

• 　・Every Wednesday - Entire Gold Mine Closed
• 　・Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays - from 8:30 - 12:30, both mine tunnels open, from 12:30 - 15:30 - only Doyu tunnel Open
• 　・Saturdays/Sundays - both mine tunnels open, from 8:30 - 15:30 
   

From April 1, 2026 (Wednesday) 

• 　・Both Mine Tunnels Open daily from 8:00 - 16:00 
   

The Sodayu Tunnel refers to mine tunnels dug in the Edo period. The Doyu Tunnel refers to modern Meiji-period mining tunnels.

Fees

• When both mine tunnels are open for viewing:　1,500 yen per adult / 750 yen per child (elementary school and below)
• When only one mine tunnel is open for viewing:　1,000 yen per adult / 500 yen per child (elementary school and below)
   

Please note that the above may change depending on the progress of renovation work, etc.
